How can I refer to an internal Redmine link in a wiki page with a relative URL?

Added by David Ohsie almost 12 years ago

In Redmine wiki page, I'd like to be able to refer to an internal Redmine url. For example I might say in the wiki that if the user has questions he should post to a specific forum. I can create a regular external link, but then if I move the Redmine server to a new host, I have to go and find and fix all links like that. It would be better if I could refer to the Redmine link using a relative path so that if I move Redmine, the links don't break.

I'm using Redmine 2.2.3.stable.

There is a link on the toolbar of the wiki text editor. You can access help and some sample with this link.

Thank you. I read through that and did not find a solution (perhaps there isn't one). I found out how to create absolute external links and also internal links to some redmine resources, but not to things like a forum itself.

You mean something like: "post questions in the Help forum"? The forum linking syntax (forum#id and forum:name) has been implemented via issue #9600 with r7840 for Redmine 1.3.0.

Thank you, that was very helpful for linking to forums.

I think that a generalized capability to do relative links would be useful as well; for example, I have a link in my wiki explaining that code contributions should be preceded by issue creating with a link to the "New issue" page. There can't be a keyword for every link.

Thanks again for the help. It does cover many of my use cases.

Relative URLs are already supported using standard textile link syntax:

Syntax Result
"New issue page":/projects/redmine/issues/new New issue page
"Roadmap page":/projects/redmine/roadmap Roadmap page
"Projects overview":/projects Projects overview
"Forums":/projects/redmine/boards Forums

Thank you, that's exactly what I need. I thought that I had tried something like syntax through trial and error, but I must have done something wrong.
