Jean-Philippe, I wish you all the best for 2017 too. Let's hope that, at least some of, our wishes hold up throughout the year and that some even may come true... In fact, I wish that for all Redmine members and users. And, as ever: thanks for the release ;)
Additionally (as comments to old news items on redmine.org seem restricted/disabled), I still wanted to comment on the past 3.3.0/10th anniversary release achievement that I previously had not noticed consciously. So I will post it below.
First, I still want to express my delayed congratulations and appreciations to Jean-Philippe and all the fellow contributors/supporters that have participated during the 10 years of Redmine existence. I consider it a great milestone to reach. The continued and persistent effort in maintaining and improving a project like Redmine is not to be mistaken and [the result] deserves a big thumbs-up.
Secondly something that is a bit more off-topic. I got on board the enjoyable Redmine 'train' when it was 'riding' just around two years (back then I only had been a passenger of other kinds of 'vehicles' that didn't even 'ride' on 'tracks'), and reflecting on the period since, I cherish a lot of the memories (mostly nice ones, but also some less pretty ones; in my view that's life or even more strict: Nature) that come into my mind both regarding the project itself but also relating to its members and users I got to interact with along the ride. Speaking on a more personal level, to me the Redmine project feels like more than just a software tool and/or just another open-source project with members and users. It's been with me since the day I found it more than 8 years ago and I hope that it and its members will be with me for much longer — and I am willing to provide support to get that realized. I have been starting to care about it and, each of the, caring people around it.
With all the above being said, I have been thinking extensively about the project activities and evolution as a whole a lot and related: how I could play a (more involved/caring) part in it. I could eg. write an extensive report (or, more in line with the project's geographical origins, an essay ["essai"] — and yes, I enjoy the ones authored by Montaigne) about it, including many observations regarding possible changes and improvements ranging several domains. This idea might get into a wish (that might start) becoming reality this new year. I'll see if it would add any value and/or if I can get to it in the end. Another thing is that I would like to / intend to start more continuous reflection-, collaboration-, improvement- and streamlining activities of and for the project in 2017 (and beyond), which may bring a positive effect of getting the duration-maturity of the project getting reflected more and/or (even) better throughout and upon the community as a whole.
Hi JPL and Misha and... everyone else :) Just... what about some event? I mean real event, where we all can gather, talk, drink, etc? I have really strong relation to Redmine, coz I "live" in Redmine 8 hours a day for 8 years or so... :)
