Listing Subproject Forums on Parent Forum Page

I'm new to redmine (but loving it so far), so maybe there's a better way to set up my client's project. In our installation, we have two high-level projects, technology and surveys. Each survey has its own milestones, and often different people are working on them (permissions), so it makes sense (to me) to have each survey be a sub-project, so it has its own wiki, issues, roadmap, and forum.
However, we really only need one forum per project. In testing, people kept going to the parent project (Surveys) and creating forum messages there, even if they were specific to a project. So what I think I'd like is to be able to list from the project forum page all the subproject forums as well.
Alternatively, I could set up a forum in the parent for each of the subprojects, and not have forums there. But that doesn't quite feel right either.
Suggestions? I'm new to Ruby, I could probably apply a patch, but not write a plugin.
