Hi,

this is my first posting. I like Redmine! It's a great piece of software.
Right now we want to use Redmine as our SW development tool.

Current Situation¶

RM allows you to enter a feature, bug, etc. in one large field. This adds a lot of flexibility, but makes structuring a project little complicated.

My feature idea¶

I would like to be able to enter fully use case descriptions. I could do this in the large description field, but there is also another way!

I would like to add custom fields, like Actor, Precondition, Postcondition, Workflow, and many more ...

Custom fields could be a great option, but they are not.

Custom fields present rather short text fields, which are far away from the Description field.
They are good for simple and short information, but not so good for lengthy texts.

I think it would be a cool feature to add "descriptive" custom fields, which have the same structure just like the "Description" field.
So they use the full page width. And can easily contain lengthy texts.

Another nice feature could be, that such "descriptive custom fields" provide the text formatting features.

The size should be limited by characters. But the number of lines shown in the forms should also be selectable.

The current setup of of custom fields would need the following changes or add-ons:

what needs to be changed¶

- There need to be two types of fields * regular custom fields * "descriptive" custom field.

- adding a new field of number of lines * if "descriptive" fields are chosen, then an additional field lines should be added.

Everything else should be unchanged.

Adding this feature would enable Redmine users to define their individual data structure for features , bugs, and other kinds of issues types.

Especially if users like to enter structured information such as use cases, this would be a great way to do.
