Upgrading 1.2.1 Bitnami Windows Stack to Latest - How to

We have the 1.2.1 Bitnami Windows stack and we are thinking about upgrading. Well, I am actually pushing my boss to upgrade. What is the best way to do this upgrade? Can we just install a new bitnami stack, update the current database and point the new install at the current database?
