Document Management using 'Files' section on redmine
Added by Rebecca DiBari over 10 years ago
Has anyone used the Files section on redmine for document storage (tab is typically to the right of the wiki tab)? I'm wondering if it could work as a central repository (you can upload document based on release). Further, is there a way to set up a wiki page (under the wiki tab) that will automatically update based on new submissions to the Files repository? I envision this wiki to act as front end- it would contain the document name, a short description and a links to the file posted in the Files tab.
Thanks

Hi Rebecca,

that's wkind of what it is, a central place to store documents.
Further, is there a way to set up a wiki page (under the wiki tab) that will automatically update based on new submissions to the Files repository?
You can get notifications if set up properly, yes.
I envision this wiki to act as front end- it would contain the document name, a short description and a links to the file posted in the Files tab.
Why would the users need to cope with a wiki page if they can have access to the files section?
Give DMSF a try, it's really worthwhile.
