Correct me if I am wrong, but if there is one thing I have come to realize with Redmine is that in a parent-subitem data structure, there is the idea of whatever happens in the subitems, it will get bubbled up to the root parent. In otherwords, the results of the subitems determine the final result of the parent item.

What I am suggesting here is that we add the idea of including status into the data structure. Essentially: the parent item will only be able to close its status, if its subitems are closed.

I understand that there is already a blocked by/blocks relation for this, however would it make sense to have this done automatically?

I would love to hear any thoughts on this.
