Is it possible to install Redmine and SVN on different servers?

Added by Nikita Pustovoytov about 15 years ago

I'm novice in Redmine and would like to try to use it.
I'm having my svn server under Windows Server. AFAIK, it is not trivial to install Redmine under this OS. Moreover, on that server only MS SQL Server is deployed, which is not supported by Redmine. I don't wsnt to install MySQL or Postgres or SQLite on that server. But I have several Linux servers which have MySQL, Apache and so on installed, so it will be a good solution for me to install Redmine on Linux server. Will it be able to work with remote svn repository?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, they can be on seperate servers. You can completely configure the SVN connection. Think of the SVN functionality in Redmine as just another SVN client.

Thank you for the reply. I was confused by the requirement of svn binaries on the path.
And can I also provide different SVN logins for each redmine user? It is important because some users can see only part of the repository (path-based authentification) and I wouldn't like redmine to be a hole in this system.
