Can I have multiple git repositories for one single project?

Is there a way to get one project to be tied to multiple repositories? Or what is the best way to handle that? Plugin, perhaps?

If I go the route of a main project and then several sub projects for each repository, how would ticketing work? Would ticketing be the same for the whole main project, or would it be strictly segmented into each sub project?

One repositry per one project is Redmine limitation #779.
