Help with email configuration...
Added by john es about 14 years ago
I have redmine working just fine on Ubuntu 10.10
I am trying to configure outgoing email notifications, but so far, nothing seems to work. When I try to test the sending function, it tells me:
An error occurred while sending mail (Connection refused - connect(2))
Not sure how to troubleshoot this. I also don't care if I use sendmail or the default smtp or whatever... Can anyone give me some pointers?

Can anyone help by posting a sample configuration?
Thanks....

Hi. Here's a sample config found in config/configuration.yml.example on latest version. Note that you have to uncomment depending on your option:
# ==== Simple SMTP server at localhost # # production: # email_delivery: # delivery_method: :smtp # smtp_settings: # address: "localhost" # port: 25 # # ==== SMTP server at example.com using LOGIN authentication and checking HELO for foo.com # # production: # email_delivery: # delivery_method: :smtp # smtp_settings: # address: "example.com" # port: 25 # authentication: :login # domain: 'foo.com' # user_name: 'myaccount' # password: 'password' # # ==== SMTP server at example.com using PLAIN authentication # # production: # email_delivery: # delivery_method: :smtp # smtp_settings: # address: "example.com" # port: 25 # authentication: :plain # domain: 'example.com' # user_name: 'myaccount' # password: 'password' # # ==== SMTP server at using TLS (GMail) # # This requires some additional configuration. See the article at: # http://redmineblog.com/articles/setup-redmine-to-send-email-using-gmail/ # # production: # email_delivery: # delivery_method: :smtp # smtp_settings: # tls: true # address: "smtp.gmail.com" # port: 587 # domain: "smtp.gmail.com" # 'your.domain.com' for GoogleApps # authentication: :plain # user_name: "your_email@gmail.com" # password: "your_password" #
