Shifted webhost, now email notifications won't work

Added by Brett Thurston over 13 years ago

Hi there

I have redmine hosted on a Linux webhost using cPanel. I recently changed hosting provider (from Namecheap to Hostgator)

We basically picked up my entire hosting package, and shifted it to the new host using the cPanel backups.

Everything seemed to be working fine, but now I can no longer send emails using Redmine. I suspect that there is a setting at my hosts end, or some thing in how they have RoR set up, that I will need to get them to change.

But I have no idea where to start. I suspect I don't need to change my email.yml because nothing has changed with how I need to connect to gmail (well Apps actually, but it's the same thing). But perhaps I do.

I'm a bit of a newbie at this so any help greatly appreciated.

I'm running 1.0.2 stable on Linux.

The error message is "An error occurred while sending mail (Connection refused - connect(2))". Is this an error from Gmail? or is it from my server?

Thanks a lot
Brett

OK - problem solved. I contacted the webhost and they enabled port 587 on the firewall. all fixed.
