Redmine auth with Active Directory - does not work for userid of 4 char

I have a number of domain users in my Active Directory who are setup to use Redmine. Redmine is setup to use AD auth. All but one user can access Redmine. This one user has the shortest userid - 4 char. Is there a min char limit for the userid when used with AD. I have tested this id with internal auth and it works fine.

Sorry, user error. The user was in a different OU
