Redmine

We migrated from Trac to Redmine a couple of months back. Recently we discovered that the attachments directory was filled with many gigabytes of files, far too much considering our use case. I ran fdupes on the directory and discovered that many of the files (perhaps all of them) were duplicates, sometimes up to 40 duplicates of the same file. In each case they had the same basename but were preceded by a unique number and an underscore (time_t?).

First, is this a known issue? I search but found nothing here about it.

Second, can anyone suggest a good way to deal with this? We'd really like to cut this back, it's screwing with our backups.
