You could group them under a parent project.

As far as them being parts of multiple groups, not really.

that's at least a compromise. In that respect it could be helpful
to be able to assign a subproject to more than one projects...

assign tags to projects. Tags could be named "development", "marketing" etc.
As a result it should be possible to list all Tickets of Tag-group...

It would be nice, and the ability to put permissions on groups of projects will ease permission management a lot.

Sadly it isn't like Journaling which can be added to just about anything efforlessly (Journaling is the commenting/change system used in issues when you update an issue), a Project group system would have to be created from the ground up, added to Projects and the suck.

RackTables uses tags and I find them to just make a mess if not kept limited to specific purposes and they get used like groups.
