Sorting issues by relations

I am trying to sort issues in each project by their relations (specifically precedes and follows), so I have a project running in a linear fashion. This way, my users can set up their project schedule in the proper order. Has anyone ever attempted to do this and been successful?

I am using Redmine 1.4.4 with BetterGanttChart and SmartSortVVK.
