Is there a technique to force Redmine to re-read a git repository and update missing commits.

We have a Redmine installation where the most resent commits to its reference git repository are not appearing in the repo but the changes to the files are. In other words, there is no entry in the recent commit list for the changes but opening the file for viewing from within Redmine shows the changes.
