Installing redmine on a server which is already running as an SVN server
Added by Christopher Monk over 15 years ago
I am trying to install redmine onto a server which we are already using as an SVN server. I am using the BITNAMI software stack 0.8.3-0 for the install. Someway through the install I am asked to provide the port which the SVN server will use to listen to by default.
The default value is 3690. There is a problem if I leave it at this value since the install says that the port is already being used by another program (the original SVN server I guess).
Can i give an alternative port number? If so which one is best. Ideally I want the redmine install to be able to pick up our existing SVN repos and use the data that is in them already.
Thanks in advance for any help
Chris.

Just type any alternative port (3691 for example). There is no problem to use svn servers on different ports in Redmine.

PS You can stop or even remove bitnami svn server from services after installation, it's don't needed for Redmine instance to work.

Thanks for your response Andrew....
I did what you said and the install ran o.k. but now I get a problem when I go to the redmine start page in the browser (see attached screen shot). Any ideas on that one?
Kind regards
Chris.
