Hi All,
I am also in the same situation. I am also new to ruby.
I have followed the steps from: http://www.redmine.org/wiki/1/RedmineInstall
I am working with this version of redMine: http://redmine.rubyforge.org/svn/branches/0.8-stable redmine-0.8
Ruby: 1.8.7
Rails: 2.3.3
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kiran.

Hello,
trying to install redmine on Godaddy hosting as well.
Would be nice to be able to upload a php file to check requirements on that hosting server which will give you the installed Ruby version or if Ruby is not even supported by the hosting company.
Or to have a php installer like you have when installing joomla or webtrees.

I'm not firm with godaddy hosting.
But you need to install database tables, write database access datas into database.yml.
If you have plugins, so you need to migrate by shell. I'm not sure if this possible in this hosting solution.
If not, have a look to http://www.saas-secure.com/en/redmine-and-svn-git-hosting.html . Some nice price offers for turnkey-installed redmine systems, also with repositories included.
