My firewall got weird, please help anyone?

I am a noob when it comes to software. I acquired a anti-virus...application, that was from the school I go to. And after that and a full scan, I could no longer use opera or yahoo messenger. I manually deleted them and downloaded them again, restarted my mac countless times, but nothing is working. I keep getting a message that something needs to be done with my fire wall and HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP ports.
Help someone?
