Redmine Redmine - Defect #40362 (New): Autocomplete double hash keep system test failshttps://www.redmine.org/issues/403622024-03-07T16:40:16ZMassimo Rossello

In latest versions of Redmine (5.0.8 and 5.1.2) the system test 'test_inline_autocomplete_for_issues_with_double_hash_keep_syntax' fails for no '.tribute-container' section is found
Redmine - Defect #40310 (New): Open Wiki Syntax quick reference in a modalhttps://www.redmine.org/issues/403102024-02-25T23:18:54ZMarius BĂLTEANU

Based on the work done in #40137, I'm wondering if it is a good ideea to open the quick reference in a jQuery modal instead of the current implementation.

Current:

Modal:

Redmine - Defect #39876 (New): H4 author headings aren't bold any morehttps://www.redmine.org/issues/398762023-12-19T15:26:36ZMischa The Evil

Prior to Redmine 4.0.0, H4 author headings in e.g. issue history, news comments and forum topics were rendered with font-weight bold by deferring the property to the user-agent style. As a (side-)effect of #22978, this is no longer the case and I don't like that.

IMHO author headings should stand out from actual content more than they currently do and as such deserve to be rendered with font-weight bold.
Redmine - Defect #39734 (New): Forums should allow for deletion of self created subjects/messageshttps://www.redmine.org/issues/397342023-11-25T16:10:13Zcat no bot

Why does this sites' forum not allow for destruction of messages? Redmine does have this feature so it must mean that you actually configured it like this on this site. That's a serious privacy issue these days as users should always be in control of their own data. Please adjust settings accordingly.

Registration email from redmine.org triggers the following rspamd symbol:

Symbol: HFILTER_HELO_5(3.00)

From the headers:

I think this HELO Ubuntu-2004-focal-64-minimal is what rspamd takes offense at. It should probably be a FQDN.
But TBH I was not able to figure out what exactly the rspamd symbol meant quickly so this might be wrong.

See https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5321.html#section-4.1.1.1 which says

These commands are used to identify the SMTP client to the SMTP
server. The argument clause contains the fully-qualified domain name
of the SMTP client, if one is available. In situations in which the
SMTP client system does not have a meaningful domain name (e.g., when
its address is dynamically allocated and no reverse mapping record is
available), the client SHOULD send an address literal (see
Section 4.1.3).

I’m not sure what MTA that server is using, but it looks like sendmail‽

Challenge

The challenge is that https://demo.redmine.org does not presently support secured connection (HTTPS). Details about this and screenshots are into this other issue/ticket #38024.

Suggested Resolution

How about adding a free, secure, and very popular Let's Encrypt SSL certificate ? Documentation is at https://letsencrypt.org Optionally, this type of certificate can automatically renew itself to any future new version of TLS.

Contribution

Any volunteer for adding an SSL certificate to https://demo.redmine.org ? Both me and the Ubertus.org team would be happy, as volunteer, to contribute testing and documentation, if needed.
Redmine - Defect #38024 (New): demo.redmine.org SSL_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_VERSIONhttps://www.redmine.org/issues/380242022-12-08T15:43:43ZFrancewhoa (Francois Carpentier)

The Redmine shared online demo at https://demo.redmine.org is displaying an error message. The connection seems to both failing and unsecured. The attached screenshots show this error message.

Below is the same as above. But with details if you're interested in those.

Steps to reproduce:

Using a modern internet browser. Such as https://mozilla.org/firefox v102 or Chromium v106. Go to https://www.redmine.org/#Online-demo

Click on the link http://demo.redmine.org/

This error message is display. This is the challenge.

Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to demo.redmine.org. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s).
Error code: SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

Cause:

Possible cause of this challenge

Outdated SSL certificate
Maybe the SSL certificate is an old version. For example, TLS v1.0 or v1.1. Which are no longer accepted by most browsers. So the connection fails. Then this error message is display.

Expired SSL certificate
Maybe the SSL certificate is expired

No SSL certificate
Maybe the server is configured to require an SSL certificate. But somehow none are presently configured properly.

What I tried that did not work:

Using the browser, deactivate all contributed modules

Temporarily allow unsecured connection

Try different browser. Firefox, Chromium, Tor Browser

Suggested resolution:

Use this free, secured, and very popular https://letsencrypt.org SSL certificate. Which can automatically renew itself to any future new version of TLS.

The order of confirmation of destructive actions on Redmine is less than ideal:

text_project_destroy_confirmation: Are you sure you want to delete this project and related data?
text_wiki_destroy_confirmation: Are you sure you want to delete this wiki and all its content?
text_issues_destroy_confirmation: 'Are you sure you want to delete the selected issue(s)?'
text_time_entries_destroy_confirmation: 'Are you sure you want to delete the selected time entr(y/ies)?'
text_own_membership_delete_confirmation: "You are about to remove some or all of your permissions and may no longer be able to edit this project after that.\nAre you sure you want to continue?"
text_account_destroy_confirmation: "Are you sure you want to proceed?\nYour account will be permanently deleted, with no way to reactivate it."

Long introductions get in the way of good communication. The average user just reads half of the text message, up to "Are you sure you want to delete...". The most important part of the message is what the action is actually doing.

My suggestion is to change the order of confirmation messages as such:

Reproduction procedure

Use MySQL

Time zone data is not loaded

Change user language from UTC to something else

Group by created_on at issues/index

When the above conditions are met, the group_count badge will be displayed as empty as shown in the screenshot.

It doesn't matter if group_count is nil because MySQL doesn't get group_count if it doesn't load time zone data.
The problem is that an empty badge is displayed at that time.

Badge should also be hidden if group_count is not successfully acquired(like timelog).

This is a problem with trunk.
Redmine - Defect #31838 (New): Improper parsing of wiki linkshttps://www.redmine.org/issues/318382019-08-01T17:49:03ZTomisław Kityński

In case where wiki link is followed by opening parenthesis, it seems like parsing goes wild. For instance this sequence:

One two [[three|The Three]] (four) five.

should produce this output:

One two The Three (four) five.

but it produces this:

One two [three|The Three] five.

It actually acts, as external link, where "four" is the URL, but:

there is a space between last closing square bracket and opening parenthesis (I would understand this behavior when there would be no space),

square brackets are doubled, but external link mode took precedence over wiki link.

Currently one needs to escape opening parenthesis with backslash to force parser to see such a sequence as wiki link, not external link. IMO this looks like a glitch.
Redmine - Defect #31770 (New): New shortcut for in-page wiki links shows link with leading #https://www.redmine.org/issues/317702019-07-22T12:44:59ZStefan Lindner

It seems that people often create the test issues on Redmine.org, potentially due to low discoverability of the demo site for Redmine and the identical design of both redmine.org and demo.redmine.org which is confusing.
To solve this problem, the following propositions might be the best:
1. Have a different landing page for Redmine.org (it's even better if it will be multilingual) which would look more modern, serve more of a presentation purpose and clearly point out that there is a demo site specifically for testing, then finally link to different modules of Redmine's Redmine. A great inspiration site for Redmine could be the one made for [Blender](https://www.blender.org).
2. Edit the yellow box message when submitting the new issue (see the attachment), where the first line would be the explanation with the <ins>bold</ins> and <ins>red text</ins>, urging users not to submit test issues and instead use the Demo site.

Best Regards.
Redmine - Defect #28447 (New): fields_for produces a broken valuehttps://www.redmine.org/issues/284472018-03-28T03:08:59ZPhlip Plumlee

Here's some code from the
redmine_people
plugin illustrating the problem:

<%= f.fields_for :information do |information| >
<p><= information.text_field :middlename, :label => l(:label_people_middlename) ></p>
<p><= f.text_field :lastname, :required => true %></p>

Then one of the fields declares a label:

<p><%= information.select :gender, Person.get_genders, :label => l(:label_people_gender)%></p>

That generates this HTML:

<p><label for="person[information_attributes]_gender">Gender</label>
<select name="person[information_attributes][gender]" id="person_information_attributes_gender">
<option selected="selected" value="0">Male</option>
<option value="1">Female</option>
</select></p>

The

value has
[]
in it instead of underscores
_
, so it does not match the target field's
id="person_information_attributes_gender"
. Clicking on the label does not put the keyboard focus into that

field.

The bug comes from this statement in LabelledFormBuilder:

@template.content_tag("label", text.html_safe,
:class => (@object && @object.errors[field].present? ? "error" : nil),
:for => (@object_name.to_s + "_" + field.to_s))

The
object_name
has
[]
in it, so something should replace them with "_".
Redmine - Defect #28404 (New): "Cancel" does not cancel a ticket updatehttps://www.redmine.org/issues/284042018-03-22T11:49:57ZMoritz Winter

Hi,

I often google for something redmine-related, e.g. "redmine plugins", and I then I follow one of the links, e.g. to http://www.redmine.org/plugins .

Unfortunately, many times I get a login form instead of the requested page although the page in question could be easily served without me being logged in. My browser automatically fills the form fields with my login data so all I have to do is to click on "Login", but the login form then unfortunately redirects me to http://www.redmine.org/my/page instead of the requested site which makes this issue very annoying.

I don't know what exactly is triggering this; I tried to reproduce it by manually removing my session cookie, but I was unable to manually reproduce this issue. Maybe the session has to expire on the server side to cause it?
Redmine - Defect #27038 (New): Lost Password link on login page is not accessible on iOS VoiceOverhttps://www.redmine.org/issues/270382017-09-19T15:51:06ZLeon Blakey

The forgot password link on the login page is not accessible to VoiceOver on iOS. When swiping left-right it just reads "Password lost password" but doesn't let you click on it. I have to hunt for the link with my finger.

Even on Jaws on Windows the "Lost Password" link is not in the tab order. However it can be worked around since Jaws can find all links on the page.

I believe it's because the is inside the for the password field.

General Background:¶

I have created several custom fields that are of the "List" type. I have enabled multiple selections for them and so when I use them in an issue, they look like a scroll-able box with a list of options.
The box does not behave in a user-friendly way when using Chrome. This applies to Chrome Browser only, Firefox and IE seems to be okay...

Problem Description:¶

The box itself shows 4 options at a time with a vertical scrollbar to the right. When there are a lot more than 4 available options, you are required to scroll through the list.
Currently, when you click on the scrollbar arrows (up or down) it scrolls through about 2 lines at a time. This is okay.
On the other hand, when you use the mousewheel to scroll through the list, it looks like it scrolls through about 6 lines at a time. This is NOT OKAY because it tends to completely skip through 2 of the options and I never see them until I click on the arrows to scroll.

On other browsers, the scrollwheel scrolls through 3 lines at a time (the normal default for mouse wheel) as expected, which is Okay.
Redmine - Defect #20646 (New): Maximum attachment size displayed/labeled incorrectlyhttps://www.redmine.org/issues/206462015-08-31T21:22:14Zmathew murphy

I set maximum attachment size to 5000KB in Settings, since I wanted a maximum of 5MB.

However, the 'new issue' form displays the maximum size as 4.88MB.

I can see three possibilities here:

1. The form should say 4.77MiB, but is calculating incorrectly.
2. The form should say 5MB.
3. The settings field should be relabeled to specify that the maximum file size is in KiB, not KB.

Since I use Linux and OS X, and generally care about how file sizes relate to disk space (which hardware manufacturers measure in base 10), my preference would be for KB/MB/GB throughout.

However, you might want to go with KiB/MiB/GiB for the benefit of Windows users, unless Microsoft has fixed the display of file sizes in Windows 10.

On a large page this sometimes happens many times which means that by the time you're halfway through the doc the pencils are basically useless. In fact the pencils have become mostly useless on our wiki due to this issue.

I observe it with h6, possibly with some others. Not sure of the exact pattern to it, but I am able to reliably reproduce it @ http://demo.redmine.org/projects/testproj1/wiki/Wiki/3 as well as on our own installation which uses the following (not that it's too relevant since it's easily reproducible on the redmine demo wiki which I assume is up to date)

Within Redmine's member searches (for instance on the 'Members' settings for projects), you have the ability to search for users, however if 2 or more users have the same name, there's no way to distinguish them. In the attached file, you can see there's no way of distinguishing two different John Smiths (short of inspecting page source code to look for user ID number and looking that up).

Can each of the entries here include the user's login after the names? For instance, displaying "John Smith (jsmith)" would remove any ambiguity.

Having the login names displayed in the list of actual group members (under the heading of 'User / Group') would be useful as well - otherwise in order to check who people are one has to click onto their profiles.

For example, in the password recovery field for email address, if the address was copied and pasted with leading or trailing whitespace it should be trimmed off before use.
Just noticed on a new issue submission, if there are a lot of versions (or a lot of anything in a popup) the list should be ordered such that the most common entry is at the top. In this case, the most recent versions would be appropriate.

Popup menus in general are not well sutied for large lists and become inefficeint when they exceed the bounds of the containing view.

For example, one of my pet peeves is a huge list of contries with the 'United States' at the bottom when the popup is primarily directed at US users. The most common usage should be at the top.

Likewise, are very short lists like months or days or years, in sequentially ordered lists it is far more convenient to simply enter the data in a text field than to select a popup and scroll to an entry. Popup are more suited to moderately sized lists of non-sequentail data like a list of colors or names.

We use BugTraq properties to relate our commits to Redmine issues. This can cause issues when referencing a revision in a wiki page.

When you add a revision reference in a wiki page such as
r123
, this works fine on the wiki page that contains the reference.

If that page is then included on another page the reference will break if the commit message contains a Redmine style markup such as
#123
.

This was tested with both Subversion and Git commits again Redmine 1.2.1.

Steps to reproduce:

Commit a revision to the repository with an issue reference in it. For example:
Closes Issue #123 : Problem with xyz has been resolved.

On a wiki page place a reference to that revision. For Example:
This wiki page is about the changes in this revision r123.

Now go to another wiki page and use the include macro to include the page in the step above.

I've been running Redmine for over a year now, and truly 100% of the problems users have reported have been this:

They can't work out how to add a new issue or edit something.

In every single case, the problem is simply that they didn't realize that all the editing options are invisible until they sign in, and they didn't see the sign in link in small text way at the top right of the screen.

The ideal solution would be for the "New issue" and "Update" links to be visible always, and to prompt the user to log in when necessary before resuming the requested operation.

If that's technically difficult, a suitable stopgap would be for "New issue" and "Update" links to be visible, that just take the user to the "Sign in" page, without resuming the appropriate operation. At least they could then find their way back to wherever they were and try again, but logged in.

As it is, with literally nothing on the screen to clue them in that they need to log in before they'll see the edit options, and with the login link in such an obscure location, it just never occurs to them that they need to find a way to log in.

Note that forcing sign-in to view anything is not an acceptable solution, because I want the site to be indexable by web crawlers.
Redmine - Defect #7645 (New): Issue summary should filter Assignee & Author listshttps://www.redmine.org/issues/76452011-02-17T23:35:39ZRob D

The Assignee and Author lists on the Issue Summary page currently list all members in the project on each list.

Members that do not have permission to submit an issue still appear in the authors list. Members belonging to a role which cannot be assinged issues still appear on the Assignee list.

These lists should be filtered based on the permissions and/or roles of the members.
Redmine - Defect #7496 (New): "Custom queries" should use natural orderinghttps://www.redmine.org/issues/74962011-01-31T08:58:28ZAnonymous

The custom queries are currently sorted, but instead it would be better to use natural sorting so that numbers get ordered correctly, what I mean by this is that currently this is how Redmine displays custom queries:

1. Foo

10. Bar

2. Car

When using natural ordering, it should appear as:

1. Foo

2. Car

10. Bar

Your spam filter is filtering innocent messages. Why's that?

Can't you allow the people to decide which messages are spam?

I lose my very long forum post! :(
Redmine - Defect #6301 (New): Unintuitive display of groups in project settingshttps://www.redmine.org/issues/63012010-09-05T01:05:48ZJean-Baptiste Barth

See attached screenshot.

When defining a group as member of a project, this is the result :

group is displayed after its members. So you don't really understand at first sight that User Misc is here because he's in A Team

you don't know why you cannot delete the user

It could be clearer with appropriate UI changes.
Redmine - Defect #6179 (New): Required fields aren't denoted on the batch-edit formshttps://www.redmine.org/issues/61792010-08-19T21:08:49ZPatrick Cummins

If you have limited the available modules for a given project and click on the Activity Tab you see ALL Tabs for ALL Modules, even the disabled ones. If you click on such a tab you get a 403. The sidebar also is not filtered.

When typing in a value into the Name field of "Add New Category" it is possible to get a "Name is to long (Maximum is 30 characters)" Error even though the entire entered value can be seen in the text box.

It would be better if the number of columns in the the text box was equal in length to the number of valid characters.
Redmine - Defect #4544 (New): Wiki exported HTML has different CSS formatting to the originalhttps://www.redmine.org/issues/45442010-01-09T23:21:48ZBrad Rushworth

Following on from #4194, I've noticed other formatting on the "Export to HTML" feature of wiki pages to be no working.

Examples are:

HTML table borders

quoted indenting

source code quoting

inline images

etc

Is there a way to ensure that the exported HTML has the same CSS formatting as the original?
Redmine - Defect #3027 (New): Wiki start page shouldn’t be capitalized automaticallyhttps://www.redmine.org/issues/30272009-03-23T10:59:54ZMathias Maul

When setting a start page for a project’s wiki, its name is capitalized automatically (e. g., abc01 becomes Abc01), which I find quite unnerving.

Of course, it is easy to rename the page afterwards but seems like a task that shouldn’t be necessary.
