There's only one project in the Redmine instance. Its name appears in the title and heading of both search result pages. When I add the 'Project' column, that project is listed for all displayed issue in both cases.
Redmine - Defect #13758: Issue Filtering 'Assignee = <<me>>' shows group issues, but 'Assignee = Bob' does nothttps://www.redmine.org/issues/13758?journal_id=485212013-04-14T00:45:49ZFilou Centrinov

Yes, PPL is defined as a group.
Redmine - Defect #13758: Issue Filtering 'Assignee = <<me>>' shows group issues, but 'Assignee = Bob' does nothttps://www.redmine.org/issues/13758?journal_id=485242013-04-14T00:52:10ZFilou Centrinov

Ok, and you (Phil Miller) are member of this group? Yes?
Redmine - Defect #13758: Issue Filtering 'Assignee = <<me>>' shows group issues, but 'Assignee = Bob' does nothttps://www.redmine.org/issues/13758?journal_id=485302013-04-14T01:19:31ZPhil Miller

So everything works right. It's a feature, not a defect. If you are a member of PPL, this issue is assigned to you, too. If you agree, please set this issue to resolved.
Redmine - Defect #13758: Issue Filtering 'Assignee = <<me>>' shows group issues, but 'Assignee = Bob' does nothttps://www.redmine.org/issues/13758?journal_id=485332013-04-14T01:40:10ZPhil Miller

I think you may be interpreting my complaint backwards. The latter search, for 'Assigned to = Phil Miller' should also show the issues assigned to PPL, just like 'Assigned to = <<me>>' does. I want the group issues to appear in searches on individuals who are members of relevant groups.
Redmine - Defect #13758: Issue Filtering 'Assignee = <<me>>' shows group issues, but 'Assignee = Bob' does nothttps://www.redmine.org/issues/13758?journal_id=485362013-04-14T05:27:03ZIvan Cenov

You are right. When you are logged as 'Phil Miller' and searching for 'Phil Miller' then <<me>> and 'Phil Miller" should give same result.
Redmine - Defect #13758: Issue Filtering 'Assignee = <<me>>' shows group issues, but 'Assignee = Bob' does nothttps://www.redmine.org/issues/13758?journal_id=526372013-10-17T14:09:21ZCharline Ferro

Do we have any way to overcome this problem?

My situation:
I use a reminder plugin which remind me all my issues satisfying some criteria.
I just found this issue while searching for a way to show issues assigned specifically to me, and not assigned to my group.
I agree that this behaviour is surprising, but it is useful for some cases.
Correct and non surprising behaviour should be, as mentioned earlier in this thread, that filtering on << me >> or "My Name" show same issues, and add a checkbox to enable/disable including issues assigned through a group.
Redmine - Defect #13758: Issue Filtering 'Assignee = <<me>>' shows group issues, but 'Assignee = Bob' does nothttps://www.redmine.org/issues/13758?journal_id=1091872023-01-25T09:01:40ZRibald Drobens

I also think that queries against the assignee should fully regard the groups because being in an assigned group in fact means that the individual is assigned as well. In my case (multi project management) the current behavior leads to missed tickets e.g. when applying a ToDo-like filter for single individuals.
