Description

When adding link to the top menu by the plugin it will generate it self with selected mode option. Original links do not have this option.
For example:

Link to core: <a class="projects" href="/projects">Projects</a>

Link to plugin: <a class="plugin_name selected" href="/plugin_name">Plugin name</a>
