Problem¶

50 members on a project : Developers, Senior Developers, Business Analysts, Project Managers, Testers, Application Owners, Power Users and users

The right click popup on the issues screen is too long for the 'assigned to'

caveat with nicer browsers¶

Chrome browser provides ability to scroll within the menu. Albeit cumbersome it works: It gets confusing to know whom an issue is assigned to without seeing their role.

Internet Explorer (which is unfortunately majority of my users), don't have ability to scroll and only see top 20% of members.

Proposed solution¶

if there is more than 15 project members, add secondary menu hierarchy by project role.

So assigned to right click menu changes from:

• assign to
  • name 1
  • name 2
  • ....
  • name 50

into

• assign to
  • Application Owner
    • name 1
    • name 2
  • Developer
    • name 3
    • name 4
    • name 5
  • Senior Developer
    • name 6
    • name 3

note: this means that users could be displayed multiple times if they hold multiple roles, but it still should on average substantially reduce the menu size
