I created a custom field of type user. When I list issues that field is displayed as a link to the appropriate user. However, when I go to the specific issue that field is not a link like it would be if it was the assignee value.

This is not a defect, this is a Feature Request ant it has already been reported with #8152.

Thanks for marking this a dup. I didn't find that issue in the large search results when I looked.
I thought that since the field is rendered as a link in some places and not others that it was a defect rather than by choice.
I imagine with a posted patch it should be easy to put into the next release.
