"Stay logged in" not working

Added by Anonymous about 14 years ago

Hi again,

We are having a few problems with the auto-login but before posting any issues on that, I'd rather check if I understood it correctly.

I've activated "AutoLogin" from the Authentication tab in the Settings. Now user can now check the box "Stay logged in" when logging in.

Problems:

  • Users don't stay logged in
  • I cannot disable "AutoLogin" anymore in the Authentication tab -- I can only change the lease time

We are running Redmine 1.0.1.stable.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Jan

Depending on what you mean by "users don't stay logged in", this might be normal behavior: the "stay logged in" works only through a session cookie, this session gets renewed when you access redmine from another browser though, effectively voiding the previous cookie. Users "stay logged in" as long as they don't login from another browser or the session times out.

Thanks - there were basically just two confusing things we need. First, the bookmark was including the "?login..." stuff, so it was relaying back to the login page and it then asked for credentials, no matter what. A second confusing thing were links from Powerpoint. We made a short tutorial for Redmine and included links for hands-on demonstration. No matter what we did, clicking those links requires a new login (which is no deal breaker, just a bit inconvenient especially during demo).

Apart from that, it works without problems now!

Still, is there any particular reason why I cannot deactivate that anymore?

Cheers,
Jan

Mmh, none I can think of off the top of my head, care to open a bug and assign it to me so that I can have a look after work?
