Trac Migrations / Branch in Redmine Repository
Added by Karl Heinz Marbaise about 16 years ago
I would like to suggest to create a branch for the Trac migration part in Redmine. I would like to work on that, cause i'm trying to migrate multiple trac projects into Redmine. But currently the problem is, that i can only give some patches and it seemed to take time (of course) to get the patches integrated into the current development line. If a branch has been created it would simplify to test that part and later the integration into the development line and of coure if needed to remove it from the development line. On the other hand it seemed to be really interesting to have a correct migration from trac, cause many people doing the migration and are willing to migrate, but if the migration is not so good that might prevent people from migration...

If you want a branch and are comfortable with git, fork my Redmine clone on GitHub and send me pull requests. I can then try to push in the changes.
Speaking of Trac, would anyone like to write some unit tests to cover the trac migration? Those would be really helpful to any developer to take in patches without worrying about breaking anything.

Hi Eric,

I don't work with Git. I prefer to use SVN (in this relationship it would be better to use SVK)....
Ok. I just thought about a "real branch" in SVN repository of Redmine....

This way is one of my thoughts about writing more support for this...
Those would be really helpful to any developer to take in patches without worrying about breaking anything.
That way it was my thoughts to make it more stable...

BTW: But one this is which is missing with this kind of setup, there is no direct relationship to the issue system here on www.redmine.org. So my suggestion is to do the branch here, cause it would show the effort much more better than working off-line with a local branch. You can see online what has fixed what not etc.
