My organization have decided to migrate from Trac to Redmine as soon as 0.9 is
released. Main features that is a blocker for us are just user groups and
private tickets.

If you can, please give an estimate as to when 0.9 might be released. This
year? in 6 months? in 3 months?

Thank you

The completed versions might give you an indication of the pace of Redmine. I don't think anyone could give an honest answer to the question beyond that though. "When it's ready" is a fairly common stance for software projects.

The completed versions indicates a late august release for 0.9 (assuming a
linear pacing). Now, a linear pacing is not really accurate, since Redmine
has increased in popularity.

Comparing features planned for the 0.8 release, and features planned for the
0.9 release, which feature set would you consider most time consuming?

Answering this question might give us some hints as to when the 0.9 release
can be expected.

I meant to write constant pacing, obviously.

I'd say the main features outlined in its wiki page 0_9

Any updates on the subject?
Thank you in advance

I'm also very interested in some of the new features mentioned in the 0.9 Release and going by the current work flow around August would probably be about the right timeframe.

But from what I can see it'll be ready when it is...

I'm currently running the trunk version of Redmine. For the most part, it is pretty stable, I have not found any issues so far.

Hi,

are there any news when 0.9 will be released? Will it be September or later?

Thanks

I also would like to join to others. There are some important features have been implemented in 0.9.

Well it looks like something is happening after quite some time with no news:

  1. Type Status Prioritet Emne Opdateret Kategori
3187 Feature New Normal "View Issues" user permission 2009-07-27
2028 Feature New Normal Show to user a path of wiki localization
0337 Feature New Normal Private issues
3057 Feature Resolved Normal Allow custom my_page blocks to define drop-down names
2840 Feature Resolved Normal Allow My Page blocks to be added to from a plugin
2971 Patch Reopened Normal Patch for "My Page" personalization not storing reordered blocks
2679 Feature Reopened Normal Ticket grouping 1901 Patch Reopened Normal RESTful URLs
1139 Feature Reopened Low Being able to sort the issue list by custom fields

2 resolved
6% left

Maybe a christmas present this 0.9 :-)

It would be good to see a focus on 0.9 being completed rather then the minor releases at the moment, I can't justify the time required to update the application for another 8.X release :(

0.8 releases are being done to fix critical and security bugs. So as long as there are no critical bugs or security issues, we won't have to do any more minor releases. :)

Cool; the Redmine install ive got work on is still on 8.4; as its totally internal security isn't an issue (i.e. I wont be arsed updating :op )

I've been drooling over 0.9s additions for a while. Cant wait :o)

RE: Target date for 0.9 - Added by Michael Lutz almost 15 years ago

We are about to take a decision on an issue tracking tool for a large European data harmonisation effort. The choice is between JIRA and Redmine. I really appreciate RedMine's clear and straightforward administration interface. But the "user groups" and "private tickets" issues are core requirements for us, so we're eagerly waiting for the v0.9 release.

Since we have to take a decision on the tool by January 2010 at the latest, I'd very much appreciate a (at least tentative) target date for v0.9.

Thanks, Michael

I have the same requirement for Redmine. We had a JIRA presentation that is satisfying by some aspects, but if Redmine provides user groups and the project hierarchy, we will use it.

We are planning to have a code freeze for 0.9 soon and are targeting the end of December or beginning of January for the stable release of 0.9. Hope this helps give you a better idea of the release timeline, it's entirely based on how much help we can get.
