Redmine

Hi

in my infrastructure I've a giant repository which is linked to several separate projects/teams. Now we are migrating to Redmine and i would like to know if there's a way to have a "fake" project with the repo associated to it to be able to link commits/revisions with issues in every project. I've tried and by default it seems it's impossible... can you tell me where I have to look in the code to create a patch to enable this feature I need? Or do you know if there is a saner method to accomplish what I need :)
