How can I make a custom field become hidden when an issue is closed

How can I make a custom field become hidden when an issue is closed. When I go to Administration->Workflow and select field permissions it gives me the options read only and required.

This is the cleanest built-in method, but it doesn't change dynamically based on status. Instead, you can use Field Configuration Schemes mapped to different issue types or projects. https://www.e-zpassri.com Unfortunately, this won’t help if you want dynamic behavior (e.g., hide only when status is "Closed").
