some setup questions
Added by Martin B almost 15 years ago
Hi,
I'm just starting to look at Redmine. I have 0.8.4 installed but will be installing 0.9.something soon. I haven't been able to figure out how to do the following:
- how to set default estimated time for bug, features
- can the source code repos be on a different machine (looks like it but I haven' tested it)? If so, will there be any less functionality than if it were on the Redmine machine?
- how do you configure email notification, so by default the bug reporter and component owner get emailed when a bug is posted or modified?
- how to make it so only signed in users can see stuff?
Thanks!

- No default estimated time, sorry.
- Yes, and it shouldn't impede any functionality.
- The issue creator gets emails for every change to this issue, users can choose to watch issues, users can add other users as watchers (though this is a special permission), watchers will be notified by mail of every change to that issue in the time they watch the issue, and users can choose to watch a whole project and get notified of everything happening in this project, lastly, you can assign a category to a user, who will then get assigned every new issue with no assignee but with a matching category. Just play around with it a little bit, I'm sure you'll be able to tune it to what you need.
- There's a complete RBAC system, but in essence you have anonymous, logged in users and project members. You can allow or disallow anonymous users (Administration > Configuration > Authentication > Authentication required), and you can allow or disallow non-members to see a project by making it public or not.
