newbie -- redmine install ubuntu lts 10.4

Added by Peter Horvath over 14 years ago

Hi guys,

I am really new in redmine, ruby etc.
I just did what I read in the ubuntu lts howto --> http://www.redmine.org/wiki/1/HowTo_Install_Redmine_in_Ubuntu.
I know that sound stupid but I don't know how to start that whole redmine. :-)
I installed everything passenger apache mod, links and files in place and enabled I made a virtual host for redmine too.
If I run the created cgi file in command line It does the html page creation well.
So can somebody write me a littlebit more detailed how to on install more than just run apt-get install redmine redmine-mysql?

Thank you
Peter

I haven't read the tutorial, but from what you tell you have a slight misunderstanding of how passenger works. Passenger is a "mod_rails" of sorts for which you don't need any kind of CGI stuff. In fact, if you have some CGI stuff configured in your vhost, that is probably wrong. What do you see in your browser when you try to visit the redmine page?

One thing that sometimes gets in the way of passenger: the redmine_dir/public/.htaccess. Remove it if it's still there, you don't need it for passenger, you can even put Options none in your vhost if you want.
