Can't log in using LDAP credentials
Added by Leslie Houk over 14 years ago
I've set up my Redmine install to authenticate against our LDAP server, but I still can't get users to be able to log in with their LDAP usernames and passwords.
I have entered the information for my LDAP server under Administration -> Settings -> Authentication -> LDAP Authentication, and when I click on Test I get "Successful connection". I also created user accounts for everyone and set their authentication modes to my LDAP repository. However, when a user tries to log in with his LDAP username and password, he gets "Invalid username or password".
Can anyone give me some suggestions for troubleshooting this problem? Thanks!

- The LDAP connection test only tests exactly that: a connection against the LDAP server, not an authentication or even if it can fetch the account information it needs.
- See if you have errors in your redmine logs (usually
redmine_dir/log/production.log
). - Can you confirm any of the users you created can successfully log into the LDAP server, and that the user redmine connects to the LDAP can fetch all the needed user information (search for a user by uid and read all the other attributes)?

Thanks for your reply. I misunderstood the "Successful connection" message, and when I checked my LDAP authentication settings with our local LDAP admin, he did correct some things. It's working now.
