configuring email - don't know capabilities

Added by Matt Cushing over 15 years ago

I've been reading around the site, and I still can't get a solid answer as to what is possible with email in Redmine.

Can users email an address and it'll get picked up by Redmine and an issue created?

I'm looking for a way for outside users to be able to send issues in without logging in. Is the easiest way to just allow them to create user id's and create the issues themselves? If so, will they be emailed everytime the issue is updated so they can see progress?

If someone can point me in the right direction on the Wiki, I would much appreciate it. I'm trying to establish not only Redmine in my office, but Rails so I can build more projects in it.

Yes, if the user's email address is the same as a Redmine user for that project. You will need to configure Redmine to check for emails from here: RedmineReceivingEmails

Yes. I have several people submitting new issues and issue updates from their mobile phone email.

It would depend on their notification settings in their My Account options. I have mine set to email me whenever anything happens on any project I'm on.

I'll check out the article, thanks.

Any idea if you can hook Redmine to LDAP, rather than creating all those userids?

Yes, you can use LDAP. We are using OpenDirectory running on a 10.4.11 mac os x server.

See this post for instructions.
