Upgrading from very old redmine to newer

Added by Kim Henriksen over 13 years ago

Hi

At my work, I have been asked to upgrade our Redmine system, I'm new to administration this system, and never really worked with ruby and ruby applications.

Currently we are running Redmine 0.8.7.stable.3297 (MySQL) on an ubuntu 10.04.

What i want to do is to move this to a new virtual machine, running Ubuntu 10.04, and Redmine has to be installed from official Ubuntu repositories.

These two plugins is currently installed:
https://projects.littlestreamsoftware.com/projects/show/redmine-stuff-to-do (doesn't seems to work in our installation of Redmine).
https://projects.littlestreamsoftware.com/projects/redmine-timesheet

Database is installed on a MySQL server on same host, I want to move the database to our main MySQL server, which is replicated to a slave. (I don't assume that there will be any problems with that?)

Questions:
How would I move data from the old version to the new one, can I simply copy the database schema and data?
Is there anything to think about the plugins?
I don't assume that there will be any problems with using a remote database?

Best regards,
Kimse.

Have you read the RedmineUpgrade-Guide. I think most of your questions will be answered in this guide.
