How to upgrade to the latest version?
Added by Martin Bächtold over 16 years ago
I'm successfully running the latest stable release 0.7.3 which I installed 3 weeks ago (with mysql).
I just browsed through the solved issues for the upcoming 0.8 and thought about getting the latest source from the repository.
But I don't want to break the current installation as it is used in production.
So my question is, is it safe to upgrade to the latest unstable version without losing data of the current projects?
And how would you do that?
Is there a howto about upgrading an existing Redmine installation?

Follow the second part of the guide but replace the:
1. Uncompress the new program archive in a new directory.
By:
1. Checkout the svn/trunk
It should work smoothly... If you don't forget to backup your datas ;)

Thanks for the hint. I should have looked better in the guide.
Of course I will make a backup of all the files and the database before upgrading.
Am I right that if I upgrade a downloaded version with the version from svn, I can later upgrade Redmine following the first part of the guide?
Thank you very much
Martin
