How to close a project and change it's visibility?

Added by Jose de Leon over 12 years ago

How do you close a project without deleting it?

My use case: I have a main project for which I use to manage a number of sub-projects. Sub-projects are for a limited time, they are open for perhaps a couple of months and then they are not needed anymore except for historical reference.

The problem: The sub-projects show on the overview page and the list is getting large. I want to disable the sub-project from showing on any overview page if it is has been closed and is no longer an active project. But I still want a way to locate it in a listing for historical reference.

Is there a feature that already supports this, or will I need to build a plugin for this?

Thanks.

Projects have two statuses: active and archived. Archived are not seen at all. This is not very convenient but this is what Redmine offers now. There is an open issue: #8681.

There is a plugin projects_tree_view. It could be used as a base for developing this functionality.
