Redmine

Hi everybody.

It would be nice if it were possible to create a VCS repository from redmine UI.

At present I use the reposman.rb script to create SVN repository from the crontab.. but what if a user wants to use git, mercurial, bazaar or another VCS? As it is now, the user has to ask and wait the server administrator to set up a repository for him/her. My users will probably come up soon with a web app that does right that.. but it would be much better if it could be done from the redmine UI..

I wonder why there's this limitation.. one that comes to my mind is security.. but when repositories are accessed via http/https they must be readable and writable (at least partially) by the user running apache httpd and as often (well my case and many others at least) redmine is served by apache httpd.. it seems a bit of nonsense to refuse creation of VCS repository for security reasons.. So maybe there's something else that I don't know..

Can anybody cast some light on this, please?
