Tracker vs. Category

Can someone explain the difference between trackers and categories? They both seem to do the same thing.

Hi,
Categories are used to "finetune" tracker. For example having tracker named BUG could be more specified via categories: Engine, GUI, Database etc.

Thanks. What you said made more sense once I started using custom work flows for different trackers. Without a different work flow the tracker/category difference isn't very obvious (at least it wasn't to me).
