Can't install plugins due to strange errors

Hi there,

I installed Redmine trough apt-get install Redmine, then edited the httpd.conf to get Redmine run on a hostname instead of 0.0.0.0:3000. I also got Redmine running on HTTPS so that works great. I only want to install the contacts, helpdesk and CRM plugin and this won't work.

I Tried these commands:
rake redmine:plugins RAILS_ENV=production NAME=redmine_contacts
rake db:migrate:plugins RAILS_ENV=production NAME=redmine_contacts

Both were unsuccessful even after a full reboot.

My system info:

- Ruby: ruby 1.8.7 (2011-06-30 patchlevel 352) [x86_64-linux]
- Rails version: rails --version (-bash: rails: command not found)
- Operating system: Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
- Database: Mysql 5.5.28-0ubuntu0.12.04.3
- Ruby-aware server used: ???

This is probably because I user Redmine 1.x.x and the command to enable the plugins should be:

How can I get the plugins installed, please give me a hint? I did some research on the internet but I couldn’t find any working info.

If you're on a debian system and installed the package via apt-get, chances are that your version redmine is ancient...

Would you like to install a recent version? If so, I can guide you through the process but we'd better use IRC for that...

That would be great, I've added the PPA: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ondrej/redmine

With this PPA I sould be able to update everything but I'm unsure if this works.. Help would be great! :) Are you by any chance dutch?

Ahh, you're on some flavour of ubuntu :-)
I never used Ubuntu, what's a PPA? If you mean this repo then go ahead and try, you should end up with redmine 2.2.1 and rails 3.2.11

I admit I don't install the stack (ruby, rails, passenger, redmine) using packages, but then again, I use Debian stable which has ancient redmine packages.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to interactively help you on IRC this evening, I'll contact you by email.
