Creating a Network Link

We use a lot of revision controlled documents. I would like to make documents readily available to a person working on a particular project/issue but to attach them to the issue or put them in the Documents area could be dangerous as they are now UNCONTROLLED. Is there a way to create a LINK to the CONTROLLED document located in our network? This way they are always getting the latest revision.

Are they in some sort of version control system, that way you could integrate that into redmine?

No, Just a Read Only folder in a network drive. Manually maintained.

We have a lovely (sarcasm) system where we are limping by on many years of applying a "temporary" fix, but who knew temporary was 10 or so years.
