Custom fields - Difference between Link and Text with "Link values to url"?

What's the difference between Link and Text with "Link values to url"? I can't seem to find any...

Also, http://www.redmine.org/projects/redmine/wiki/RedmineCustomFields states that "Text: multiple lines text (supports rich text formatting as of 2.50)". How to make a line-break?

I think it is the difference in checking for the right formatting.
When you select "link" the user has to enter a valid url.
With "text" he can enter anything.
