New Redmine install - How to best give access to small office

Added by Alison Cairns over 9 years ago

Good morning,
Still discussing concepts here and trying to find the most effective and pain free method to deliver Redmine to several clients. The existing network is SBS2011 so using the server could be a possibility.
Other options considered include:
  • Use of existing shared web host (Apache).
  • Setup local web server on Ubuntu and add to existing windows network.

Has anyone experience of any of these options and would you do it again?

OK we're going for local web server on Ubuntu and add to existing windows network.
Now have a clean install of Ubuntu 15.04 and Ruby on Rails. Welcome screen is ok on localhost:3000.
Trying to add device to AD on SBS now and it looks like Realmd may help. Thought that install was good but now trying to find /etc/realmd.conf to edit automatic install to "off". But it's not there.

Redmine is now installed :)
Now I need to make this available to the windows network users and figure out some authentications for them. LDAP seems to be the way to go according to Google.
