E-mail problems - Configuration.yml non-existent
Added by Jayro Neto over 7 years ago
So, i'vre recently had to migrate redmine from my old server, as it was, as the name implies, old. The database migration went smooth, and it's already up and running, but i can't get the e-mails to work(and that is an ever bigger problem because we've added 2 new people to the team who can't login to redmine because we chose the "generate password" option but they never got the e-mail). So, in short, i went ou there hunting for solutions. A dozen of different websites pointed me in the general direction of that famed mail configuration tutorial, and i think it should work. The problem is, configuration.yml didn't exist on my install. I had a file name "Configuration.yml.example" where it's non-example brother should be, but no "configuration.yml" to be found. Of course, i then tried to copy the file and change the name of the copy, but it didn't really have any effect aside from wasting a few hours of my life trying to search for a cake recipee only to find out i don't even have an ove to begin with. Any thoughts?
Please bear in mind that i am fairly new to using redmine, and, as such, i might ask for more detailed explanations than a regular user would. I hope that i'm not being too imposing, though. Thank for your time if you've read this far!

Doing a migration myself. You are supposed to copy or rename configuration.yml.example to configuration.yml, and then customize to contact your SMTP server. I fought with the configuration for a few hours yesterday and never got anywhere. I installed sendmail, which only needs the 3 lines below in configuration.yml, and it works great.
default:
email_delivery:
delivery_method: :sendmail
