[solved] advices wanted for new install with old data (from redmine 212)
Added by simo geo almost 5 years ago
Hi all,
I was working with redmine 212 till I recently had a crash disk !
I'm no building a new infrastructure. I want to deploy again redmine and load back all my data.
I guess this will not be a big problem for documents but I'm more sceptical regarding database.
My question is : how should I do ? Can I install the last version and provide my old database parameters (what about structure update ?)
Or should I better install the old redmine 212 version and then updgrade it ?
Thanks for answering !

Ok,
I did install that way : https://www.redmine.org/projects/redmine/wiki/howto_install_redmine_on_ubuntu_step_by_step
and updated DB as follow : bundle exec rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=production

did it work fine?
the safest way would probably be to install the same version that you had, replace the database with your old data, then upgrade the whole system to the newer version if you wanted to.
