How to paste html content directly from Outlook e-mail body to issue decription and keep all formating and images

Added by Marcin Markowski almost 3 years ago

Hello,
I got an old user who is using MS Outlook for years, now he needs to transfer text/images from email he received from client to Redmine to create tasks for other users(us).
Problem is, while he is doing it he looses all formating and images from email body. How to keep these formating from gibberish outlook html? Mostly I need these images to be placed in proper places in Redmine'stextile editor. I can't force him to copy/paste single images (that doesnt work directly, we need to copy whole body to MS Word).
I woudln't bother you guys but he is our boss, and he mostly will force use to stop using redmine (and we need it) and stick to emails like in 2000's because for years he just pushed forward button and that was okay...

To sum up, I basicaly need ctr+a, ctrl+c and ctrl+v option.

This could be realized via a plugin, I recommend the WYSIWYG Editor because, in contrast to the CKEditor, it translates into textile instead of html.
It adopts all formatting that is not visualized via CSS. Also, of course, no embedded images contained locally in the email can be accepted, but only those with an external link to a resource that can be accessed by the browser.

Thank You for response but it doesn't work as should be. While using this WYSIWYG Editor it only keeps copied plain text, without images and that is crucial.

Why? Is there any way to make it working? I can copy single images, but not a textfiled and images?

Maybe, the better way is to send the mail directly to redmine? (Email Fetching)

Hmm. Why copying single images is working but two or more, or selected with another item (text) is not?

I was thinking about it but I'm afraid that all we will get will be gibberish html in the issue description, because we tried once with an Outlook addon for redmine. We were able to keep all data and images but it didn't display proper - just html text, so I'm afraid that issue made directly from email will be same - just gibberish html.
