Include items from plugins (eg. ezLibrarian) in search

I recently installed ezLibrarian and added some items. I think it would be a great enhancement to have the ability to search for elements provided by plugins (in my case books). Before creating a ticket I think this should be discussed in this area.

An issue already exists: #3021. It's possible there are some duplicates too... ;)
