CKeditor: Redmine 5.x compatible version

Added by C S 2 months ago

Does anyone have a current version/fork for the Redmine CKEditor plugin?
Nothing seems to be moving on the original developer's Github page... there are 133 forks, but I couldn't immediately discover any further development of the plugin there either.

Unfortunately, I have also no current fork.

But I started a wider research some time ago and recognized that CKEditor 4, what Redmine CKEditor is based on, will probably end its support in 2023 (https://support.ckeditor.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005281629-How-long-will-CKEditor-4-be-supported-). Maybe this is the reason for the sluggish maintenance of the plugin.

To sum it up in three letters: "OMG"
This would mean that I would have to reconvert all the content...

Sometimes everything is not as bad as it first seems ;)
In a test installation, I was able to record a partial success even without installing the CKEditor:
If "CommonMarkdown (GitHub Flavored)" is selected as text formatter, ~95% of all texts generated by CKEditor are rendered and output correctly!
You can live with that and only have to gradually adapt all areas that are still active in the event of a change.

I just cry a bit for the convenience - inserting images, etc. was already very easy with the plugin.

As far as I remember images were uploaded into the public folder meaning that the whole world can view your images. Did you check that?
