How to render base64 images in the issue_pdf_helper????

I added a binary signature field in database which capture a signature from time_entries form and store it as base64 binary data.
Now im able to render it within the issue using image_tag but with no success in trying to render it on the pdf output so i would be so grateful if someone could give me an advise on how to do it...
