Is there a way we can implement a easy web gui update maybe even a link on the administration tab to update the system?

Your report is very short, I don't think it's a "High priority" at all. If you're talking about Redmine updating itself, it's pretty hard because it implies administrator rights to restart the instance. I don't think it will ever be integrated to the core.
