Should I wait for Redmine 1.0.1?

Added by Michalis Miatidis over 14 years ago

Hi! I am currently a TRAC user. I need something more flexible, extensible, robust and project-oriented to migrate. I tested Redmine and it worked flawlessly for me, was full of nice features and the migration of existing issues worked without major problems.

As I am new to Redmine, I am not aware of any possible upgrade implications or effort. Also, 1.x version is soon coming out.

Is there some estimated remaining time for its release to judge if I could wait for it, or should I just go for the current version and simply(?) upgrade to the new one when it comes out?

If you install from the svn repository, upgrading should be quite easy (svn up (or svn switch if you want to go from trunk to stable) followed by a database migration to the current version with rake db:migrate and a restart of the rails server) and the current trunk is poised to become 1.0.0 RC, so it's even more stable than at other times ;-)
